About the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Facilitator Certification Program

This Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Facilitator Certification Program certifies you as a facilitator of the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy 12-week program.

Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy combines the skills of mindfulness with the healing power of nature.

MBE is used as a framework for helping individuals and families to find deeper connections in their own lives, and to give more meaning and enjoyment to the activities of daily living. By re-integrating ourselves with nature, we are able to tap into nature’s healing power and to heal the earth as we heal ourselves.

The Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Workbook and the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Workshop series were developed by Charlton Hall as a 12-week program to help individuals re-connect with the healing power of nature. The series meets once per week for 90 minutes, usually in an outdoor setting. The first six sessions cover the skills of mindfulness, and the next six sessions cover integrating mindful skills into ecotherapy. The six mindful skills are about “what” to do, and the six ecotherapy skills are about “how” to do it.

The Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Facilitator Manual was updated to the Second Edition in January of 2022. A free pdf copy of the manual is included in the materials for this course. If you would prefer a hard copy you can purchase one by clicking on the link.

Each of the twelve sessions of the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy program covers a distinct skill that builds on previous skills, and provides activities and interventions that can be used in both group and individual therapy sessions.

Since we first began offering the program in 2015, response has been overwhelming, so we began to offer the facilitator training to mental health professionals all over the world. If you are interested in running your own Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy program, this is the course for you!

Facilitator Certification Program Content

Program content for this Facilitator Certification training includes:

  2. Ecotherapy for Therapists – 10 online hours
  3. Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Program in Clinical Practice – 30 online hours

This complete certification package offers you a substantial savings over buying the courses individually, but you may also purchase the courses listed above separately and complete them one at a time. If you choose this option, you will need to contact us when you are ready to submit your case presentation.

Case Presentation for Facilitator Certification

After completing all three courses in the program, you will select a client to work with using at least one of the skills discussed in the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Program. This should incorporate at least one therapy session with your chosen client, including a follow-up with your client to discuss the results of the intervention.

Once you have gotten feedback from your client, fill out the Case Presentation Form by clicking on this link.

When filling out your case presentation, do not include any identifying information concerning your client.

When we receive your case presentation, it will be reviewed. There is no additional fee for reviewing your case presentation. There are no hidden fees or additional materials to purchase. The only exception is if you would like paperback copies of the workbook, which may be purchased here.

Upon successful review you will be emailed a Facilitator Certification certificate.

When your case presentation has been approved you will be emailed a Certificate of Completion in pdf format.

Facilitator Certification Program Information

There are three courses included in this program. Once you have completed all three courses there is a case presentation in which you will used at least one activity from the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Program with a client.

Once your case presentation has been presented and approved, you will receive your Certificate of Completion as a Certified Program Facilitator and will be entitled to a free listing on our Directory of Certified Facilitators.

Facilitator Certification is administered and regulated by the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Organization, a division of the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC. Questions about any of our certification programs should be addressed to the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Organization.

Facilitator Certification Program Instructions

This Facilitator Certification Program includes a free pdf copy of the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Workbook. This workbook is used by students of the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy 12-Week Program. You will need the workbook to facilitate the program. The workbook is divided into 12 sessions worth of material plus an overview. The workbook also includes all the worksheets needed to facilitate the program. All of these program materials are included when you purchase the program.

There are three separate courses included in the certification program. They are:

  1. Mindfulness for Therapists – 10 online/home study hours
  2. Ecotherapy for Therapists – 10 online/home study hours
  3. Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Program in Clinical Practice – 30 online/home study hours

Each of these courses has a separate Certificate of Completion with the number of hours earned and the title of the course. There is a final exam for each course in the program. You will have three attempts to pass each final exam with a score of 80% or higher. When you have passed each course’s final exam, a certification of completion for that course will be generated for you in pdf format. The certificate will have the name you used when you registered for an account.

The final facilitator certification is issued by the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC upon successful case presentation, and after completing all of the coursework above. You will be emailed this Facilitator Certification Certificate when your case presentation has been reviewed. This process usually takes about two weeks.

All of the program materials are online home study format and may be completed at your own pace. You have one year from the date of purchase to complete the program. Upon expiration of the one-year period you will no longer have access to the course materials. We frequently update course materials as new studies become available.
