The Mindful Ecotherapy Center trains mental health professionals and the general public in the skills of Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy.

Founded in 2007 by Charlton Hall, MMFT, PhD, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC offers continuing education in ecotherapy and mindfulness.

Mindfulness in its simplest definition just means paying attention to the present moment with intention. Think about all the things that may have stressed you out in the past. How many of them had to do with events in the past? How many of them had to do with events that may or may not happen in the future? How many of them had to do with the present moment, right now, as you are reading this paragraph?

Mindfulness is a way to use the present moment to choose what to focus on about the past or the future. The present moment is where we can make positive change in our lives.

Ecotherapy taps into the healing power of nature to facilitate mindful states of being. Being outdoors in nature makes mindful states easier to achieve while enjoying natural environments.

Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy combines the skills of mindfulness with the techniques of ecotherapy to create a coherent program that allows participants to make positive change in their lives.

Charlton Hall, MMFT, PhD founded the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC in South Carolina when he was still a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. He went on to become a Marriage and Family Therapist, a Marriage and Family Therapy Supervisor, a Registered Play Therapist, and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. In 2020 Dr. Hall retired from his roles as a therapist and supervisor to concentrate on his role as the Executive Director of the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC.

Since its founding in 2007, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center has trained hundreds of mental health professionals. We now have certified facilitators in seventeen states in the United States and five countries worldwide.

The Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Organization

In 2023 we started offering memberships in the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Organization. The Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Organization exists to promote the skills of mindfulness and ecotherapy. Membership in MBEO entitles members to 20% off all courses offered by the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, LLC. Beginning in 2025, membership in MBEO will be one of the requirements for becoming certified as a Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapist.
