Mindful Moments Series
In January of 2021, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center launched a new web-based video series called “Mindful Moments.” In this series, the Director of the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, Chuck Hall, guides you through some of the basic skills of mindfulness and ecotherapy.

Mindful Moments Episode 3: Process Addictions
Did you know that in addition to becoming addicted to substances, people can also become addicted to certain emotional states or process of behavior? In this episode of the “Mindful Moments” series, we discuss how becoming addicted to behavioral processes and the emotions they generate can cause problems in our daily lives. We’ll also discuss how process addictions are related to Doing Mode and how Being Mode can help.

 SUICIDE RISK ASSESSMENT AND PREVENTION COURSE GOING AWAY JULY 31, 2021
As a free service to the community, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center has been providing a free 1.75  hour online Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention  course. As this course has been free online for several years now, some of the data is dated. Because of this, the course will be deleted as of July 31, 2021.
If you are currently enrolled in the course, you will have until that date to complete the course and earn your certificate. If you are interested in taking the course but have not yet enrolled, please be aware that it will be deleted on July 31, 2021. Any students who have not completed the course by July 31, 2021 at midnight PST will have their course materials deleted when the course is deleted.  If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us.

 NEW FREE COURSE BEING DEVELOPED
As a free service to the community, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center is in the process of developing a FREE two-hour online course in Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy entitled Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy. This free two-hour course will replace the free Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention course we currently offer.

NEW COURSES BEING DEVELOPED
The Mindful Ecotherapy Center will be expanding our online services starting next month with courses specifically geared towards the general public, and not just mental health professionals. The first of these courses will be Beginning Mindfulness, and will include over two hours of guided mindful meditations. Courses to be developed over the coming months include:


Beginning Mindfulness
This course examines some of the basic mindfulness skills, and offers an introductory course in mindfulness for the beginner. It includes nearly two hours of mindful meditations.


Intermediate Mindfulness
This course expands upon basic mindfulness skills and includes advanced breathing techniques and radical acceptance techniques. It includes nearly three hours of guided mindful meditations.

Advanced Mindfulness
This course for advanced mindful practitioners helps you to improve your life through mindful eating, mindful goal-setting, and self-hypnosis skills. It contains nearly five hours of guided mindful self-hypnosis sessions.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
This four-module course will examine all four skill sets of DBT and give practical tips and techniques on implementing all of the DBT skills.

BEGINNING SHAMANISM
The tools and techniques of shamanism have been found in most indigenous cultures throughout the world. In recent years shamanism has been studied as a therapeutic instrument. Drawing on the works of Carl Jung, James Hillman, Joseph Campbell and others, this introductory course in using shamanism as a therapeutic tool will be ready sometime in the autumn of 2021. THERAPEUTIC DRUMMING
Music therapy has been an effective tool even prior to the days of therapy itself. For thousands of years humans have enjoyed therapeutic drumming. In this course we will cover some of the recent research in using drumming to facilitate therapy for a wide variety of disorders.

Ecotherapy for Anxiety

Nature has the power to calm and to heal. In this online Ecotherapy for Anxiety course we will be studying the following:

What is Ecotherapy?
This module will examine what ecotherapy is and why it’s important.

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a well-established aid in overcoming stress and anxiety. Natural environments facilitate mindfulness. This module will look at some of the tools and techniques of mindful awareness.

Nature-Based Mindfulness
This module examines some ways that nature can be used to facilitate mindful states.

Kaplan’s Attention Restoration Theory (ART)
Anxiety is exhausting. Kaplan’s Attention  Restoration Theory (ART) offers a theoretical framework for how nature helps to restore positive levels of attention. This module looks at ART and how it relates to mindfulness and ecotherapy.

Anxiety and Ecotherapy
This module reviews some current research on using ecotherapy for the treatment of anxiety

Ecotherapeutic Techniques for the Treatment of Anxiety
In this module we will discuss some therapeutic techniques that have been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of anxiety.

Programs that qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified with the NBCC logo. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Mindful Ecotherapy Center is solely responsible for all course content and for all aspects of the programs offered.
