DBT Skills Group Face-to-Face

Dialectial Behavioral Therapy (DBT) was developed by Marsha Linehan specifically for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder. In recent years it has been demonstrated to be effective with a wide range of disorders involving stress and depression.

DBT involves four skill sets:
1. Core Mindfulness – Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment and leaving the “mind trap” of ruminating over the past or worrying about the future;
2. Emotional Regulation – This skill set examines how we respond to our emotions and how we can learn to respond to our emotional states rather than reacting to them;
3. Distress Tolerance – When the fight or flight response is triggered it is difficult to find solutions. This skill set allows us to leave Doing Mode and enter into Being Mode
4. Interpersonal Effectiveness – a lot of stress and depression come from problematic interactions with others. This skill set helps us learn to modify our interactions in a mindful way

The Mindful Ecotherapy Center will be offering two new DBT groups. One will be meeting online, and the other will be meeting at the Pumpkintown Opry Complex on Highway 11 near Table Rock in Pumpkintown, SC.

Each group will meet once per week for one hour.

DIRECTIONS

Face-to-Face Groups
The face-to-face group will meet at the Pumpkintown Opry Complex in the yoga studio. When you arrive at the complex the yoga studio is two doors down from the cafe. Look for the signs. Please bring a camping chair or a yoga mat to sit on for this group. Some chairs are available, but these are limited to the first five participants.

Online Groups
The online DBT groups will meet via Skype at a date and time to be determined by each group’s members. Once five participants have been enrolled we will decide upon a time convenient to the majority of members and the facilitator. For the online group you would need access to Skype and headphones and/or a microphone.

Cost
The cost of each group (online or face-to-face) is $25. Materials are provided for each week’s topic. Each group begins when a minimum of five people have registered. Dates and times to be determined by the group’s members. Each group will either meet on a weekday evening or on a weekend, depending on group preference.
